CARE
PRE-ADMISSION
Prior to taking up residence, you will be provided with the terms and conditions of your stay. You will be asked to provide information on both your medical and personal needs to ensure that we are able to provide you with the maximum flexibility and dignity during your stay. We will take into account any special needs, concerns and your normal routine to ensure that as far as possible you retain your independence within a safe and caring environment.

CARE
Shandford provides residential care for 25 residents but is not a Nursing Home. All individual residents care requirements are assessed regularly to ensure that the Home is able to meet your needs. In addition the Manager will consult with you and your relatives regularly to ensure that your care is appropriate and is properly reflected in your care plan.
Hairdressers, chiropodists, dentists, doctors, physiotherapists and opticians regularly visit to provide specialised services and representatives from local churches provide pastoral care.
A secure cash handling facility is available to provide cash for any services required and small items of daily expenditure.
Care staff are on hand 24 hours a day and you may call upon them at any time. We aim to provide proactive care which anticipates your needs.
Above all, we wish to create a happy and dignified environment which will allow you to enjoy your stay at Shandford to the maximum.

MEDICATION
If you wish, all medications are looked after and given to you by a member of staff. We will make sure that you are given the correct medication at the correct times of day.
On or before admission, you will be given the option to be considered for self-medicating. If you wish to self-medicate, we are required to carry out an assessment to ensure that it is safe for you to do so.
